We’ve rounded up some of the #Pride2023 collaborations, projects and moments that caught our attention and inspired us this month. We proudly stand with our 2SLGBTQIA+ communities throughout this month of celebration and all year round.

Starting with a smile from Sesame Street

Views from Schitt’s Creek: “A better world than we live in.”

In this Reel shared by CBCGem, the cast of @schittscreek and journalist @pfpicardi on the show’s queer representation and its impact. We definitely recommend watching the whole clip to hear more from Dan Levy and the cast about how naturally the characters and relationships evolved on the show.

A surprisingly fun TTC collab

Earlier this month, the TTC announced that the arrival chimes would be sung by Singing Out, Toronto’s largest 2SLGBTQQIA+ choir.

It sounds great in the Instagram clip below (click to visit the post and hear it.)

While we love the concept, unfortunately, there were some audio glitches upon rollout, but they were fixed in time for the Pride festival weekend at least!

Erie Library standing up for its beliefs

As shared in this news report, “Librarians opted to take down all displays in the Children’s Library at Erie County’s Blasco Memorial Library rather than take down or move a Read With Pride display at the library director’s request after a complaint.” Terrible that a complaint forced the displays down, but bravo to the librarians for taking a stand.

London, ON mechanic willing to lose customers

Similarly, it’s amazing to see people willing to stand up for the good, but disheartening that it can come at a price. In this recent article, a mechanic in London, ON described facing backlash, including losing customers for flying the pride flag. But we know where we’ll be taking our cars if we’re in London!

The Smithsonian celebrating 2S identities and the joy of fashion

The Smithsonian hosted a series focused on the 2S community, specifically, Indigiqueer Fashion, which also features Canadian creators. The discussion provides wonderful insight of how fashion can shape identities, challenge social structures, and display personalities.

Levi’s gender neutral collection

See the collection

The Levi’s Pride collection celebrates the spectrum of identities through a new line that is meant to be worn any way you see fit. While many brands are expanding their clothing to be more inclusive, we also like that this year’s collection tells the stories of six inspiring LGBTQIA+ individuals from around the world.

Keeping it authentic year-round

As Pride month comes to a close, we hope that organizations and the humans behind them keep focusing on equality and inclusion over division and hate. In this poll shared with the digital news organization, Fast Company, these are great insights for brands that are interested in being truly representative beyond the month of June.

Reflecting on historic moments

As we look forward to a kinder, more inclusive future, we also acknowledge the hard work and painful moments from the past. We know we’ll be there to support meaningful milestones in the years to come, as well.

A wonderful message…

PS — Rain is proudly pro-choice, pro-2SLGBQTIA+, pro-feminism, #BLM and we believe #EveryChild Matters. If you are one of our clients (or a potential client) and feel the same way, know that we love you for it. We will continue to speak out for basic human rights and healthcare… 365 days a year.
